The triple of Bill Caple, Kevin Lewis & Sam Lincoln played out a close game however with 2 ends to go they were 16-10 ahead and managed to keep the last 2 ends tight and despite dropping a single shot on each end it was enough for the win and 3-1 lead in the match. Matthew Crick and Thomas Jaycock were up against Richard Reid and Alan Price in the pairs and despite being 12-8 down after 11 ends they didn't lose focus or another end in the game and they went on to win 21-12 and give Broadway a 201 lead in the game. In the triples Lee Adams, Keving Lewis & Lewis Fletcher put up a great fight against David Ross, Tim Godman & Matt Hyde and the scores were level at 10-10 after 13 ends however we then dropedd 3 twos and only managed to pick up 1 on the last end to lose16-11 and see the match tied at 2-2. MID BUCKS KNOCKOUT CUP
Round 1 - Broadway v Bletchley St Martins - Won 3-2
This evening we made the trip to Bletchley St Martins for the Mid Bucks Cup, played in the same format as Top Club. For half of our team they were playing their 2nd match of the day with some playing in the Challenge Shield in the morning and others playing the County 2 Wood competition. So although this wasn't the ideal preperation for the game everyone turned up determined to out in a good performance in the competition that we won last season. Matthew Crick played the 2 wood and this was a tight game throughout where there was never more than 2 shots between the 2 players and after the 21 ends the scores were level at 13-13. Unfortunately we dropped the shot on teh playoff end to give Bletchey the first point of the game. Kieran Jaycock played the singles and he had a very tough match against Paul Sapwell and although the scores were level at 8-8 after 10 ends Kieran then dropped a single shot on the next 9 ends and he only managed to win 2 more ends, losing 21-11. This meant we were 2-0 down in the match and in this format it is unusual to lose both singles and still go on to win however the pairs, triples and fours all put in a great performance. Luke Swan & Thomas Jaycock played the pairs and were 11-4 ahead after 9 ends and they only lost 3 more ends on their way to a 20-9 win. Carol Crick, Lee Adams & Lewis Fletcher were 8-7 ahead after 10 ends however they then picked up a HotShot on the 11th end to go 17-7 ahead and that seemed to drain any confidence out of the hosts as we then went on to pick up another 13 shots from 4 ends to win 30-10. This then meant that the game was all square at 2-2 and so the Fours would dictate the overall winners. Dan Rogers, Sam Lincoln, Pete Coyne & Roger Crick started well, picking up 7 shots from the first 2 ends and by the halfway stage they were 11-4 ahead however the luck then started to turn and with just 2 ends to play we were 15-12 down, We managed to pick up a 2 on the 17th end to leave there just 1 shot in it going in to the last end. With just 1 bowl left for each team we were holding 1 with bowls in front of the jack and with his last wood Roger managed to turn another one of our bowls in for 2nd and their skip couldn't find a gap to get in with his final bowl and we won 16-15. A great game from both teams and we just managed to get a 3-2 win to set up a home game against Wingrave in the next round.

At home Malcolm Robins, Debbie Horsted, Pete Coyne & Roger Crick also got off to a great start and despite dropping shot on teh first end we then won the next 8 ends to take a 15-1 lead at the halfway stage and despte dropping a 4 we went on to win 23-7, giving us a 42-22 win.
Round 2 v Herts A
Carol Crick, Luke Swan, Matthew Crick & Lewis Fletcher once again made the trip to Herts and this time they got off to a bad start, dropping a 6 on the 2nd end and they were 9-2 down after 6 ends.
