1st October 2023 - Broadway v Chandos Park - Home - Friendly - Won 91 - 65

 This afternoon we welcomed Chandos Park for the final friendly of the summer season and it was great to see so many members with their name down to play in this match. So much so that we were able to provide Chandos with an additional triple made up of entirely Broadway members. Debbie Horsted, John Read & Carol Crick played the Broadway triple of  Peter Squire, Thomas Jaycock & David Cartland and this was a tight game throughout and despite dropping a 5 on the 6th end the game remained close but we managed to hold on for a 17-15 win. Marion Bull, Bob Cummins & Paul Rogers had a much more comfortable afternoon, losing just 4 ends on their way to a 25-8 win. Lee Jaycock, Linda Richards & Philip Reeves took an early lead in their game however by the half way stage the scores were level at 7-7. We then picked up a 4 and managed to stay ahead, eventually winning 17-16. Pauline Squire, Kieran Jaycock & Josh Henly made a good start in their game going 6-2 ahead after 5 ends and they remained ahead until they dropped 7 shots in 3 ends towards the end of the game and needed shot on the last end to rescue a 15-15 draw. Malcolm Robins, Sarah Jaycock & Judy Rogers played out a close first 9 ends which saw the scores level at 6-6 however we then managed to get ahead and then never lost the lead, going on to win 17-11 

30th September 2023 - Broadway v Chess Vale - Home - Friendly - Lost 70-69

In our final weekend of the summer season we hosted Chess Value for a 4 triples friendly and this was a very close game. Nikpour, Pauline Squire and Philip Reeves got off to a good start in their game and were 6-2 ahead after 5 ends and although their opponents then started to get back in to the game we then picked up 7 shots from 3 ends and ended up winning 16-12. Lee Jaycock, Keith Dellar and Carol Crick took a while to get in to the game and by the 8th end they were 10-4 down however they then started to find their game and they picked up 9 shots from the next 3 ends and they went on to pick up a 5 on the last end to win 24-16. Melinda Walker, Peter Squire & Lewis Fletcher had a tough afternoon winning just 6 of the ends in a game which they ended up losing 20-12. In the final game Marion Bull, Debbie Horsted and Dan Rogers had a run of losing 10 ends in a row but they finished the game by picking up 12 shots from the last 3 ends and ended up losing 22-17. 

16th July 2023 - Broadway v Rickmansworth RBL - Away - Friendly - Lost 78 - 57

This afternoon we made the trip to Rickmansworth for a game we knew would be a challenge on a green that is tough to come to terms with and this was how the game played out. Bob Cummins, Vanessa Culmer & Bryan Collins only managed to win 4 ends in their game, eventually losing 28-8. Lee Jaycock, Peter Squire & Lewis Fletcher picked up a 5 on the 1st end in their game however when they dropped 2 fives a few ends later they then struggled to keep in the game and by the 10th end they were 19-6 down. They continued battling away and won 6 of the last 8 ends and finished up losing 21-15.Carol Crick, Pauline Squire & Ian Culmer had a game of 2 halves as they led 14-4 after 9 ends however their hosts had the better of the 2nd half but we managed to hold on for an 18-16 win. Debbie Horsted, Daniel Rogers & Stuart Churcher picked up 6 from the first 3 ends and having taken the lead they never lost the lead throughout the game and went on to win 16-13.

15th July 2023 - Broadway v Kings Langley - Away - Nash Trophy - Lost 75 - 67

Following this mornings success in the Bucks Plate and Burnham Plate we were looking to follow this up with another win at Kings Langley and despite winning 2 rinks each we finished up on the wrong side of a 75-67 scoreline. Carol Crick, Michael Meacham & Paul Rogers struggled to come to terms with the green and were just 8-6 down after 9 ends however they then dropped 10 shots over the next 5 ends and ended up losing 22-10. Stuart Churcher, Kieran Jaycock & Roger Crick were 8-6 ahead after 9 ends and this remained a close game throughout and we managed to hold on for a 16-12 win. Philip Reeves, Judy Rogers & Lewis Fletcher had a tough afternoon losing 9 ends in a row and only winning 5 ends throughout the game, which saw them lose 28-11. Janet Meacham, Thomas Jaycock & Lee Adams got off to a great start going 9-0 ahead after 5 ends and despite dropping 7 shots from the next 3 ends they only lost 2 more ends in the match and went on to win 30-13. 

24th June 2023 - Broadway v Chesham - Away - Friendly - Lost 90 - 56

This afternoons friendly at Chesham was reduced to 16 ends due to the heat, a welcome decision for all. Keith Dellar, Michael Meacham & Stuart Churcher took the early lead in their game going 7-1 ahead after 4 ends however by the 10th end they were 11-9 down but they kept going and were level at 13-13 going in to the last end, which they lost by 2 shots. Allan Bryant, Bob Cummins & Lee Adams looked to have got their game as they were 10-7 ahead with 3 ends to play however they then lost the last 3 ends to lose 16-10. Janet Meacham, Graham Carter & Lewis Fletcher had a tough afternoon and despite winning 7 of the 16 ends they dropped a 6 and 2 4s on their way to a 24-8 defeat. Lee Jaycock, Vanessa Culmer & Bryan Collins were also close at  the half way stage, losing by just 1 shot however they then dropped a 5 and went on to lose 23-9. Pauline Squire, Debbie Horsted & Ian Culmer got our only winning rink of the afternoon, courtesy of picking up 5 shots on the last 2 ends to win 16-12 

18th June 2023 - Broadway v Chess Vale & Chesham @ Chess Vale 

This afternoons round robin at Chess Vale saw 4 triples from each of the 3 Chesham Clubs battle it out with 2 triples against each of the other 2 teams, with the winners being determined by overall shots for. Dan Rogers, Carol Crick & Roger Crick were playing Chess Vale and were 7-6 down when they stopped for tea after 9 ends however they came back out strong and won 7 of the remaining ends to win 20-11. Also playing Chess Vale were Debbie Horsted, Keith Beck & Lewis Fletcher who were looking in control for much of the game however the last 4 ends saw them drop 13 shots without reply to lose 23-12. Stuart Churcher, Julie Whitbread & Bryan Collins played out a very close game and just managed to hold on for a 16-15 win, whilst Bill Caple, Graham Carter & Lee Adams lost by the same margin 17-16. The match was won by Chess Vale with 67 shots to our 64 and Chesham's 60 

17th June 2023 - Broadway v Kings Langley - Home - Won 68 - 56

This afternoon we welcomed 4 triples from Kings Langley to Broadway. This was to be another enjoyable afternoon which saw Broadway win 3 of the 4 rinks. Caryl Collins, Peter Squire & Lee Adams played out a close game however when the dropped a 3 and 4 in quick succession  they found it difficult to get those shots back and ended up losing 19-14. Dan Rogers, Janet Meacham & Bryan Collins found themselves behind for most of the game however on the 15th end they picked up a 6 to go 14-10 ahead and they then went on to win the remaining ends and the game 19-10. Keith Dellar, Michael Meacham & Ian Culmer played out a great game and they were just 2 shots ahead with 2 ends to go but picked up a 4 to go 17-11 ahead going in to the last end and although they lost the end they won the game 17-13. Pauline Squire, Vanessa Culmer & Bill Caple were also involved in a close game and the scores were level at 10-10 after 12 ends however they then dropped4 shots on the next 2 ends before going on to win the remaining ends and win the game 18-14.

10th June 2023 - Broadway v Chesham - Home - Friendly - Won 91 - 53

This afternoon we had our first friendly since the 20th May at home to Chesham BC, on a very hot afternoon. Due to the conditions we agreed to reduce the match to 16 ends and no trial ends and this seemed a popular decision with all bowlers. Pauline Squire, Graham Carter & Lee Adams lost the first 2 ends but soon got in control of the game and picked up a 5 on the last end to win 22-9. Dan Rogers, Matthew Crick & Stuart Churcher got off to a slow start and were 10-3 down at the halfway stage however they managed to pick up 12 shots from the next 6 ends, without reply and held on for a 15-13 win. Carol Crick, Debbie Horsted & Lewis Fletcher had a comfortable afternoon losing just 3 ends and 3 shots in their 21-3 win. Sarah Jaycock, Malcolm Robins & Bill Caple were 3-3 after 5 ends however they then picked up an 8 to take a good lead, although the visitors started to fight back and by the 14th end we were 15-13 ahead however we then picked up 9 shots from the last 2 ends to win 24-13. Bob Cummins, Vanessa Culmer & Bryan Collins took and early lead in their game however they were unable to hold on to the lead and eventually lost 15-9

20th May 2023 - Broadway v Cheddington - Away - Friendly - Won 77 - 70

This afternoon we made the trip to Cheddington for our first friendly in a couple of weeks and this was an enjoyable afternoon. Malcom Robins, Thomas Jaycock & Bryan Collins had a slow start in their game and found themselves 9-2 down after 9 ends however they then got back in to the game and were 11-10 ahead after 14 ends however they then lost the last 4 ends to lose 17-11. Pauline Squire, Bob Cummins & Ian Culmer got off to a great start in their game going 9-2 ahead after just 3 ends however 2 ends later they dropped an 8 but they didn't lose heart and fought back well and only lost 3 more ends in the game and ended up winning 29-17. Stuart Churcher, Carol Crick & Judy Rogers took an early lead in their game and remained in front throughout and despite dropping a 6 they went on to win 20-14. Sarah Jaycock, Peter Squire & Bill Caple won the first 3 ends before losing the next 3 and they followed that up by winning the next 3 ends to go 9-8 ahead after 9 ends. They then dropped a 5 on the next end only to get the 5 back the next end however despite being 3 shots ahead with 3 ends to go it was time for the hosts to win 3 ends in a row again and we lost 22-17.  

3rd May 2023 - Broadway v Croxley Guild - Home Friendly - Won 99 - 39

This afternoon we welcomed Croxley Guild for a 4 triples friendly and were looking to bounce back following the narrow defeat at Hazlemere at the weekend. Sarah Jaycock, Pauline Squire & Bill Caple picked up 2 fives during their game which saw them earn a comfortable 28-5 win. Nik, Bob Cummins & Bryan Collins had a good afternoon and despite only winning 2 more ends in their game than their opponents they also had a comfortable 30-11 win. Malcolm Robins, Linda Richards and Lewis Fletcher got off to a great start in their game picking up a 4 on the first 2 ends and from there they controlled the game throughout, going on to win 31-6. On the final rink Marion Bull, Peter Squire & David Cartland had a tougher afternoon and despite only being a single shot down at the half way stage their opponents managed to extend their lead and went on to win 17-10 however we managed to win the match and won 3 rinks to 1

25th April 2023 - Broadway v High Wycombe - Home Friendly - Won 59 - 51

This afternoon we welcomed 4 triples from High Wycombe for what turned out to be a close game. Bob Cummins, Pauline Squire & Bryan Collins played out a really close game however on the 17th end, with the scores tied at 12-12 they unfortunately dropped a 7 and just managed to get 1 shot back on the last end to finish up losing 19-13. Graham, Carter, Ray England & Ian Culmer also played out a close game and restricted their opponents to single shots for most of the game but managed to pick up a 3 & 4 themselves during the game and ended up winning 14-11. Sarah Jaycock, Pauline Squire & Bill Caple started well in their game and picked up a 6 on the 4th end to take a 7-2 lead and they never gave up that lead, going on to win 16-11. Allan Bryant, Linda Richards & Keith Beck played out another tight game however they managed to win 5 of the last 6 ends to win 16-10 and give Broadway a 3-1 rinks win.

22nd April 2023 - Broadway v Redbourn - Home Friendly - Won - 95 - 66

This afternoon we welcomed Redbourn and thanked them for managing to get an additional triple for the game to help as we had so many members wanting to play. Following our defeat at Herts last week we were looking to get a win under our belts and achieved this with some great bowls on all rinks. Graham Carter, Vanessa Culmer & Paul Rogers dropped a 4 on the first end however by the 4th end they were 7-4 ahead and from there the never gave up the lead and only lost 6 ends during the match, which they won 24-9. Marion Bull, Michael Meacham & Ian Culmer had a great afternoon which included a run of 7 ends won in a row, picking up 19 shots in the process and they went on to win 29-8. Nik, Linda Richards and Matthew Crick played solidly throughout their game and won 19-7. Keith Dellar, Malcolm Robins & Bryan Collins took a while to get in to their match and were 14-5 down after 12 ends however they fought back well and won the remaining ends and finished up winning 15-14. For Janet Meacham, Bob Cummins and Pete Coyne it was not to be their afternoon and nothing seemed to go right for them and they found themselves 12-0 down after 5 ends and were never able to get back in to the match, only winning 5 ends during the match as they lost 28-8

16th April 2023 - Broadway v Herts - Away - Lost 81 - 79

This afternoon we made the journey to Herts Bowls Club in Watford for our first "grass" game of the season and following so much rain recently we played with the green protector mats down. This was another enjoyable game which saw us win on 3 rinks and lose on the other 2. Kevin Lewis, Pete Coyne & Lee Adams got off to a good start in their game and they had only lost 2 ends when they stopped for tea after 9 ends, with the score 10-3 ahead. They came back out playing well and extended their lead to 16-4 after 13 ends however Herts won 4 of the last 5 ends but we held on for a 17-10 win. Dan Rogers, Bill Caple & Lewis Fletcher had a tough afternoon, dropping 2 7's in a row to go in for the tea break 22-3 down and although they managed to win 3 more ends after tea they ended up losing 31-9.  Lee Jaycock, Judy Rogers & Roger Crick picked up a 5 on the 4th end to go 6-3 ahead however on the 9th end they dropped a 5 to go in for tea level at 9-9. The 2nd half didn't start to well and we lost the next 7 ends and just managed to win the last 2 ends to avoid a 2nd half whitewash, with the score finishing with a 20-12 defeat. Keith Beck, David Cartland & Paul Rogers were 7-3 down after 5 ends however they then started to find the green and won 7 ends in a row to go 20-7 ahead and despite losing 2 more ends they finished with a comfortable 24-10 win. In the final game Carol Crick, Graham Carter & Bryan Collins were level at 6-6 after 9 ends however they came out strong in the 2nd half, losing just 3 more ends, on their way to a 17-10 win.

6th April 2023 - Broadway v Chess Vale - Away - Won 70 - 52

This afternoons game at Chess Vale was played around the showers and was cut short to 14 ends but was an enjoyable game to get the seasons friendlies underway. Peter Squire, Keith Beck & Bill Caple got off to a slow start in their game going 9-1 down after 5 ends however they then picked up a 5 to get back in to the game and were level at 9-9 after 9 ends. Unfortunately they then dropped a 6 and despite replying by picking up a 4 they then lost the last 3 ends to lose 20-13. Bob Cummins, Thomas Jaycock & Bryan Collins started well and picked up a 5 on the 3rd end and like Bill's rink they were 9-9 after 9 ends. A solid finish saw them pick up 7 shots over the last 5 ends whilst only dropping 4 to win 16-13. Dan Rogers, Kieran Jaycock & Ian Culmer got off to a slow start and were 12-1 down after 6 ends however they started to fight back and by the 13th end the scores were level at 14-14 however they then dropped a 3 on the last end to lose 17-14. On the final rink Lee Jaycock, Pauline Squire & Matthew Crick had a comfortable game only dropping 2 shots throughout the match and they ended up winning 27-2. We now have a short break again until the next game at Herts on the 16th.
